Allison & Evan's Wedding on Saturday, May 10th

Allison and Evan were married at Bon Air Baptist Church where Allison's parents were married a few years back. The reception took place at one of our favorite venues in Richmond, Main Street Train Station.
Its a pretty big honor to shoot for Allison and Evan since Evan writes and photographs for Style Weekly, shooting bands who perform throughout town. Here's a link to a review featuring a couple of his photos from a recent show by the New Pornographers. Sam and I were in attendance and shaking a tail feather but luckily he didn't find us... Neko Case photographs better anyway ;)
The guys were looking for something to do before the ceremony so they picked up some malt liquor and shot dice in the parking lot across the street from the church for a photo. I always love Sam's quirky groomsmen shots:

A&E had the perfect mix of elegant and fun details: stylish yet casual and inviting. We were especially diggin' on their hip invitations and programs, the urban chic color scheme, the PBR tall boys, and of course, the hit of the evening, a photo booth for guests to take and leave memories. We even found a moment when the lines were down to get in on the fun. Oh, and the vegan wedding cake that was so freakin' delicious that it left me in a quandary... how can you make a buttercream that good without butter or cream? I am stumped. Check out the style swatch:

Remember these guys? Can they even take a bad picture?

Thanks so much A&E for inviting us to be part of your wedding day and thanks also to your friends and family for being so welcoming. Here's a slideshow set to the song that was playing when Evan proposed, one of my Yo La Tengo favs. If you were a guest and would like to be notified when all the photos are available for viewing, click here.

Oh, and some of the lovely Allison's bridal portraits, I think its safe to share these now. We took her portraits at the train station a few weeks before the wedding, you'll have to guess which one was on display... Hint: you can see a train going by through the window when its printed large, pretty cool...
