Revetta and Jamie's Wedding on Saturday, September 1, 2007

Revetta and Jamie's wedding brought us to Hampton University where the ceremony took place. Sam and I both agreed that the church at HU is one of the most beautiful we have seen with all its warm brick and wood as well as the dramatic light.

The campus is nestled in a harbor where we took some group shots. Boats were to be a theme for the day in fact - the reception took place at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News. R&J's wedding party was a lot of fun and up for anything... They all climbed into a playground boat outside the museum to take a goofy group shot. To get up there you had to climb a latter and the heels, dresses and tuxes didn't stop this crew...

The reception had an interesting musical spin: Revetta scanned various backstage passes from all kinds of shows they had been to and made each guest a pass to their table. A large screen in the center of the reception hall showed videos for all the dance music, which was actually quite helpful for dances like the electric and cha-cha slide. While it may not be totally appropriate, I couldn't help but get the shot below during Rick James' Superfreak video, out of context it might look like he was congratulating R&J by closed caption.

During Jamie's brother's toast it came to light that R&J met while speed dating. I think Joe is right: it really says something when you make can make a strong connection with someone in less than 3 minutes and countless minutes later, know that you want to spend the rest of your life with that person. It was a pleasure shooting for you both and we wish you countless years of happiness. Check out this slideshow with some of our favorites from the day and if you are a guest and would like to be notified by email when all the photos are available for viewing, click here.
