Jill and Tom's Wedding on Saturday, September 30, 2006

Jill gives a "thumbs up" during our limo ride to the church:

Tom sees Jill for the first time:

Jill is laughing in just about every photograph we took, it was a truly perfect day. Jill and Tom were married at St. Bede's Catholic Church in Williamsburg where they celebrated their union military style.

We had some time to kill before the reception so, along with the entire wedding party, we headed over to Colonial Williamsburg's Merchant Square to walk around, take pictures, and take in the sights.

As we were taking an impromtu portrait of the ladies, a carriage (in matching red) pulled up behind:

Jill, Tom and their entire wedding party had a great sense of humor and let me take this pic of the newlyweds in the gallows...a cheesy tourist shot but I love it:

While waiting for the limo, we walked across the street to the College of William and Mary's campus to take a picture in front of a cannon. When we got there, The Gentlemen of the College, the oldest a capella group on campus, had just finished taking a group shot in front of the cannon and were hanging around it. Tom asked if they wouldn't mind clearing the area so that we could take a picture too and they replied that they could do one better: how about being serenaded in front of it? And so it was that Jill and Tom stood in front of the cannon while the Gentlemen sang and people drew near to listen. I wish I could tell you the name of the song, something like "the Greatest Event of Your Life" (iTunes doesn't think so) but it was perfect, a totally spontaneous and romantic act of kindness. Afterwards, we took a picture with the whole group:

The reception brought us back to the Williamsburg Winery where Sallie of Williamsburg Weddings and Events had outdone herself once again managing the details in shades of red, burgundy and pink. Enhancing the winery theme, grapes were included on the monogrammed cake as well as within the flower arrangements on the tables.
